Lennar's The Foundry would bring more than 1,000 townhomes and detached houses to approximately 70 acres near Las Vegas Boulevard and Washington Avenue. The project would replace the former Grant Sawyer state office building and Cashman Center properties with a gated residential neighborhood.
The proposed community includes pools, walking paths, picnic areas, play spaces and a fitness course. Those features are planned rather than open, and the final buildout will depend on construction phases.
Lennar has indicated that prices could begin in the $300,000s, but no final home-by-home price list is available. Buyers will also need to consider taxes, insurance, financing and association fees when sales details are announced.
A ceremonial groundbreaking took place October 15, 2026. The developer expects vertical construction to begin in October 2027; that is not a confirmed move-in date. There is no verified first closing date yet.
For existing downtown residents, the development could mean more customers for neighborhood businesses, along with questions about traffic, pedestrian access and public services. The project's impact will depend on how its streets and infrastructure connect with the surrounding area.
Follow Lennar's announcement, city updates and local reporting for final pricing, construction milestones and plans for nearby streets. Read More... |

RE | Robert Ellis · 5 days ago I'm not sold on making the Cashman Center site a gated community. I'd rather see some of that land stay accessible to everyone.

Could Las Vegas get an NBA arena next to AREA15? Not yet. Fisher Brothers has proposed roughly 50 acres between AREA15 and Palace Station as a possible arena site, but no NBA expansion team or final arena location has been approved.
Mayor Shelley Berkley and Mayor Pro Tem Olivia Diaz have expressed support for considering the site, according to FOX5's October 12 report. The developer's broader vision includes dining, retail and entertainment around a possible basketball venue.
For residents, the important questions concern traffic, parking, infrastructure, neighborhood businesses and who would pay for the project. Those details remain unresolved.
There is no confirmed construction start date or opening date. A future NBA expansion decision, team ownership agreement, financing and government approvals would all matter.
Our updated guide explains the proposed location, the developer's pitch, local implications and what to watch next. Follow City of Las Vegas updates and learn about the existing destination at AREA15. The bottom line: this is a significant proposal, not a finalized arena deal. Read More... |

Lilli has opened at 3616 W. Spring Mountain Road in Las Vegas Chinatown, giving special-occasion diners a new tasting-menu option from chef Tyler Vorce. His first permanent restaurant follows pop-ups and a residency at Durango Social Club.
Vorce previously worked at The French Laundry, Troisgros and Le Bristol Paris. At Lilli, French techniques meet seasonal seafood and vegetables. The restaurant's published menu has featured Hawaiian kanpachi, Pacific petrale sole and Liberty duck breast, but dishes may change. Check the official Dining Room menu before visiting.
In the Dining Room, a four-course prix fixe costs $98 per person, while the eight-course tasting menu costs $188 per person. Drinks, tax, gratuity and possible supplements can raise the total. The eight-course tasting requires full-table participation; ask about meal length and dietary restrictions before reserving.
For a more flexible visit, Lilli has a 15-seat lounge overlooking the open kitchen, serving à la carte food, cocktails and wine. It's walk-in only, with seating on a first-come basis. The small room may fill up, so keep another dinner option in mind.
Lilli lists Tuesday–Saturday hours of 5:30–9:30 p.m. and free on-site parking. Find the location with directions to Spring Mountain Road, and confirm the schedule before leaving home.
Planning a birthday or anniversary? Dining Room reservations are recommended but not mandatory. Lilli lists a $50-per-person charge for cancellations within 24 hours; confirm the terms on the official reservation page before committing. For more about Vorce's background and the opening, read Eater Vegas's report. Read More... |

🍴 VEGAS FOOD FORK |
Montreal's Lester's Deli has arrived in Henderson. The Canadian sandwich institution, founded in 1951, opened its first U.S. restaurant in August 2026 at 1590 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Suite 170. It's a neighborhood destination for Montreal-style smoked meat, rye-bread sandwiches and poutine.
The star is the smoked brisket, prepared in Montreal and shipped to Nevada before final cooking and slicing, according to Las Vegas Weekly. Co-owner Jean-Francois Blais, a Quebec-born musician with years of Cirque du Soleil experience, helped bring the deli to the valley alongside owner Kevin Fung.
For a first visit, the Montreal Classic ($21) pairs smoked meat with yellow mustard on seeded rye. Le Reuben ($23) adds Swiss, sauerkraut and dressing, while the Bernie Parent ($23) goes in a cheesesteak-inspired direction with cheddar and peppers. The official Henderson menu lists more sandwiches and a smoked meat platter.
Poutine is another draw. Recent local reporting listed classic poutine at $13 and a smoked meat version at $18. For first-timers, the Classic is the straightforward choice; the smoked meat poutine offers another way to sample the brisket. Prices may change, so verify the menu before ordering. Read More... |

A bold mural turns an ordinary Arts District wall into a full-color welcome mat for the neighborhood. The geometric stripes and oversized “VEGAS ARTS” lettering capture the creative, walkable energy locals know well—and make a strong case for slowing down between galleries, coffee stops, and dinner plans.

🐶 PUP OF THE WEEK |
Meet Hunk-A-Burnin' Love, a large gray shelter dog with a name that is impossible to miss. His record at The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas lists him at 85.2 pounds, with animal ID A1441562.
Hunk's recorded arrival date is October 13, 2026, and his intake type is listed as stray. That doesn't tell us what his life was like before the shelter, so we won't guess about his temperament, training or history.
His supplied listing shows a $50 adoption fee and kennel DHA110, but fees, kennel locations, and availability may change. Check his official profile before making plans.
Thinking about adopting a big dog? Consider your space, walking routine, and budget for food, equipment, and veterinary care. Ask the shelter how Hunk behaves on leash, what staff have observed around other pets and what kind of introduction they recommend. Read More... |
💬 FOR YOUR GROUP CHAT |
💬 Vegas, settle this. Need a quick text for the group chat? “Should we make one local stop this weekend—coffee, vintage browsing, or a gallery?” Your assignment: send it, get three answers, and pick a plan. |
🌿 MINDFUL MINUTE |
🌿 Two minutes. No perfect routine required. Between traffic, errands, and a calendar that keeps filling itself, even a quiet minute can feel hard to find. So make the reset small enough to actually do. Try this today: Put your phone down. Unclench your jaw. Take three slow, comfortable breaths. Then notice one thing you can see, one sound you can hear, and one place your body feels supported. That’s it. You don’t have to clear your mind or turn it into a productivity project. 🌱 This week’s reminder: Rest doesn’t have to be earned. |
💄 THE BEAUTY DROP |
Vegas fall has range: warm afternoons, cooler nights, and plenty of dry air. Your beauty bag doesn’t need a full overhaul—just a few reliable basics. Keep moisture close. A gentle moisturizer and lip balm can help when the air feels dry. Don’t retire the sunscreen; the American Academy of Dermatology’s sunscreen guide covers the essentials. Make the touch-up easy. A hair clip, blotting paper, or tinted balm can take you from errands to dinner without a full restart. ✨ The beauty drop: Less fuss, more time for your actual plans. |
A NOTE FROM VEGAS SHOUTOUTS There’s more to Vegas than the lights. It’s the neighborhood restaurant you tell your friends about, the small business you keep coming back to, and the people making a difference just down the street. Those are the stories we’re here to share. Know a local gem, a good neighbor, or a story we should cover? We’d love to hear about it because the best Vegas tips come from the people who call this city home. See you around town! |
